To Newbie Domainers, Watch out for these Scammers!

November 10th, 2008

This domain appraisal scammer(s) usually pry on newcomers in the domain reselling business. They will send emails to the newbies basically asking how much is the domain worth, then the scammer will ask the seller to appraise the value of the domain. The scammer will be the one to provide where to appraise the domain. But the appraisal site is owned by the the scammer.

The scammers’ appraisal site charge about 39 dollars per appraisal. But those who were victimized did not received any appraisal report after shelling out the money.

The email usually goes like this:

Do you sell domain with a web site or just the name?

Domain without content is ok with me. Web site is not necessary.

Have you had your domain names evaluated in the past? I mean domain appraisals. Without valuation we cannot be sure in the sale price. It’s very important for me in terms of reselling too. But we must engage a valuation company with REAL manual service. So I will only accept valuations from independent sources I and my partners trust.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies.

Please check this blog with suggestions from other sellers and buyers:
http://webtalk.007sites.com/Archive/461239.htm

If, for example, the valuation comes higher you can adjust your asking price accordingly. It will be fair. I also hope you can give me 12% - 15% discount.

After you send me the valuation via email (usually it takes 1-2 days to obtain it) we’ll continue our negotiations.

What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire transfer, PayPal.com or something else?

Hope we can come to an agreement fast.

Looking forward to your reply.

By the way, link in the email above (007sites.com) is also theirs.

YuppAds.com a Complete Afilliate Network

November 7th, 2008

I came across this site as text link ad from another site. Was lured by its 10$ sign up bonus.

Yuppads.com boasts of its wide array of money making way of earning through ads. This is not your usual affiliate network, unlike Commission Junction or Linkshare which could only offer CPA or Cost Per Action through its banners and links.

In their site it says:

Yuppads Affiliate Network is leader in performance based web marketing by offering CPA (Cost per Action), CPM (Cost per 1000 Impressions), CPC (Cost per Click) and PPV (Pay per View) Video ads.

They have featured clients such as Classmates.com, Ancestry.com. That could give them a bit of credibility.

Basic Tips to Make Your Site Popular

October 8th, 2008

If you are determined to make money online, you should at least know basic knowledge of the methods to make your website or online business go to the next level.

What i am about to write are plain and just basic. Use your initiative to know more about these.

1. Basic HTML knowledge. Study basic HTML. Buy books about HTML and CSS. Use Google to search for free HTML and CSS tutorials. There are tons and tons out there.

2. Search Engine Optimization. SEO for short. Search engine optimization is basically, making your website searchable in the search engines. Your website must first be easily searched in Google, it’s a MUST, all capitals. It’s about using the right keywords in your articles, the URLs of your files, etc. Again, there are tons of free SEO tutorials.

3. Know the Rules. To avoid being banned in Google or your worse, your domain being confiscated, one should know the ethics that govern the internet. Do not spam. Do not send emails to people who doesnt want your mails in the first place. Yes, spammers do make money, a lot. But they’re constantly on the run. They always change domains.

If you want to make your site or business in the internet established on solid ground. Do not spam.

Do Not Use Zango, If You’re Serious about Making Money!!!!!

September 26th, 2008

Do not use Zango in your online money making ventures. Do not even visit the site, but if you’re really curious, do not in any way download any files from that site.

Once you downloaded even just one file, you’re in for future headaches. Spywares, adwares will lurk, annoy, pester, crash, rip, irritate with unwanted popups you and your computers. It will even hijack your earnings or of other people.

Let me expound the hijack part. Zango once installed in your computer, it has the capability of hijacking your potential earnings away from you.

For example, if you are a member of good affiliate sites like Commission Junction. And you have banners and links in one of your sites. Then a visitor on your site decides to click and buy through your banner, but if the user has a Zango adware installed in his/her computer, it will forward or hijack the user to Zango’s member websites that offers similar product.

Or a popup ad will show in front of the buyer, a site similar to the site that the buyer wants to purchase from.

That’s all i know about Zango, i’m sure there are other scamming ways this Zango does.

Do not in any way use Zango.

Earn Money at eLogoContest.com

September 25th, 2008

eLogoContest is the best site for logo designers, illustrators or graphic designers who want to earn money on the web. This site is relatively new.

For the security of the the designer, one can choose which specific contest to join. The prepaid or none. The prepaid is that the Contest Holder deposited the prize money to the Site Admin.

It’s up to you to join to “not prepaid”, if the Contest Holder runs away, you have no way of getting the prize if you’re the winner.

eLogoContest doesn’t have any complicated requirements for a designer to join. Basically, just signup, search for available contests and submit an entry. It’s that simple.

I am a member of DesignContest.net, a site that also holds logo design contest. It’s been up for some time. But they have a bit complicated requirements:

How Do I Join the Design Team?

Joining the Design Team is easy! If you are an active member of the community and have an online portfolio that easily viewable, you may apply to the team by clicking on the “Join the Design Team” link above.

All applications can take up to 30 days to approve, and once you are approved you may enter all the contests seen on Design Contest.

In order for a designer to participate in the contests on DesignContest.net, he/she must be a member of the pre-approved Design Team. There are no exceptions to this rule under any circumstances. To qualify for Design Team status, you must meet all of the below requirements. New applications will be reviewed and processed within 30 days.

Do you meet the requirements?

1. You must be at least 18 years old at the time of application

2. You must have your own online version of a portfolio

3. You should be a registered member of the Contest Forums

4. You must be an active member of the forums for one week

5. You should have a minimum of 10 recent forum posts

6. You should be able to receive Paypal payments

Not so complicated right? Maybe.

But when i was inactive for many months. I had to apply to the Design Team again! Grrrr. I have not joined any contests in that site since then. That was 2006. It’s really unnecessary to reapply.

So i recommend eLogoContest!

Earn Money Online by Joining Logo Design Contests

September 9th, 2008

Other ways to earn money online is by joining contests online. If you’re a graphic designer and wants to increase your income, this is perfect for you. Even if you’re just a beginner, contests are a good way of sharpening your logo design skills.

My logo design skills significantly improved in logo design contests.

The first contest that i joined in was in Webhostingtalk in its Advertising Forums at the lower part of the page. Usually, logo design contests are held in design forums.

I personally have earned more than 200$ through logo design contests. Lately, i seldom join contests because of busyness and among other reasons, but i do sometimes join contests if time permits me.
